Waringa is a storyteller with experience ranging from corporate communications in the technology industry to journalism in major newsrooms across the world. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Waringa’s primary role as the Communications Officer is to help articulate the AVFund’s impact through meaningful and authentic storytelling.
Prior to joining the AVFund, Waringa spent three years at Lenovo, the world’s largest PC maker, where she worked as a Global Corporate Communications Specialist based in both Raleigh, North Carolina and Nairobi, Kenya. Before that, she worked as a business journalist in major newsrooms across the world such as CNN International in Atlanta, Georgia, Bloomberg News in New York and Al Jazeera in San Francisco, California.
Waringa graduated from Washington and Lee University with a BA in Journalism & Mass Communications where she specialized in business reporting. She also holds a Masters of Journalism from University of California, Berkeley where she specialized in television reporting and investigative journalism.
She’s also a proud plant mum, fitness and travel enthusiast, and a creative, fearless dreamer.
