HelpMum is a Nigerian social enterprise dedicated to improving maternal health through innovative, low-cost mobile technology solutions.
The Differentiator
HelpMum has a strong, community-driven approach. They actively collect field information to refine their products and services for the communities they serve. The development of their apps (Vaccination Tracker, Chatbot and HelpMum AI Innovation- ADVISER) is informed by insights gathered during field visits. This approach ensures a deep understanding of the challenges they aim to address.
Why Their Work Matters
The urgency of HelpMum’s work is evident when considering
that Nigeria loses approximately 2,300 children under the age of five and 145 women
each day - making it the world's second-largest contributor to under-five and maternal
mortality. The lack of accessible healthcare facilities, particularly in remote rural areas,
leaves these populations significantly underserved. Through innovation, research,
technology, and policymaking, HelpMum is dedicated to eradicating maternal and infant
mortality in Nigeria and at scale.
- By incorporating HelpMum Artificial Intelligence innovation (ADVISER) into the HelpMum Vaccination Tracker, HelpMum has successfully increased immunization outcome by 73.5% in primary healthcare centres in Nigeria
- The HelpMum Clean Birth Kit has significantly benefited pregnant women in rural by area in Nigeria. An impressive 95% of pregnant women that used our HelpMum Clean Birth kit didn’t experience neither infections nor infant loss during childbirth.
HelpMum has reached over 100,000 pregnant women and nursing mothers. This remarkable achievement has been made possible through the deployment of innovative technologies and cost-effective solutions like the HelpMum Clean Birth Kit, the HelpMum Vaccination Tracker, the AI Innovation- ADVISER, HelpMum Chatbot and an HelpMum E-learning platform tailored for community health workers. Each of these initiatives plays a crucial role in improving maternal and infant healthcare for pregnant women and their children
HelpMum collaborates closely with government institutions at both national and regional levels to improve maternal and infant healthcare. Our focus is on integrating our innovative digital solutions, primarily aimed at improving maternal and infant healthcare, into the government's current healthcare system. This integration helps us to expand our reach to thousands of beneficiaries, significantly scaling our impact
