Doris is a visionary development leader with a strong grasp of the challenges and opportunities in the East Africa region. She has been instrumental in building collaborations that foster meaningful change and empower communities.
Her career is marked by a commitment to empowering women and youth. Doris’ work spans diverse areas, including supporting young female social entrepreneurs, preparing young women for the workforce, advocating for women’s participation in governance, and researching the intersections of climate change, education, and gender.
Doris began her career in journalism, using her storytelling skills to highlight pressing social issues, which led to over a decade of dedication to community development. At the Creative Action Institute, she managed partner organizations in initiatives focused on girls’ education, climate change, and youth empowerment, and she spearheaded the Sauti ya Dada (Girls’ Voice) podcast.
She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Public Policy and Administration at the University of York and finds joy in gardening, exploring new cuisines, and fitness training. As a skilled program strategist and storyteller, Doris remains devoted to creating a more just and sustainable future for Africa, motivating others to become agents of positive change.
