Julie is passionate about empowering livelihoods and bridging the gap between vulnerable communities and donor agencies. She has worked in different contexts in Sub-Saharan Africa, including Kenya, Burundi, DRC, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Zanzibar.
Before joining African Visionary Fund, Julie served as an Assistant Program Officer at Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE). She supported the successful resource mobilization of grants amounting to over $6,000,000 from donors, including Global Affairs Canada, Mastercard Foundation and Ford Foundation. Further, she aided in nominating and selecting over 60 female candidates for the Commonwealth postgraduate scholarships tenable (U.K.). Julie also volunteered at Makadara Social Development Office in Nairobi, Kenya, and supported the government cash transfer program for older persons and persons with disabilities.
Julie is pursuing her M.A. in Gender and Development Studies at Kenyatta University. She holds a B.A. in Development Studies from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. In her free time, Julie enjoys traveling and exploring new places.
