Passionate about supporting African-driven initiatives that create meaningful impact, Mena has significantly contributed to organizations across Africa and North America. As an African, she brings a wealth of experience in communications, fundraising, and program development, alongside a personal commitment to the continent’s development.
Prior to her current role, Mena served as a Development Associate at CorpsAfrica, where she facilitated successful grant proposals, fundraising campaigns, and events. Her role involved traveling to program countries, allowing her to deepen her understanding of local challenges and solutions. Mena has leveraged her skills while working on-site with various nonprofit teams across Africa, including in Ghana and Uganda. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she worked remotely for a legal organization in Sierra Leone, producing high-quality content highlighting issues faced by women and girls in contact with the legal system.
As a Copywriter at WriteBrand, Mena enhanced client profiles and drove audience engagement through compelling branded content. She also demonstrated her leadership skills at Capoeira Brasil Los Angeles, both as a martial arts instructor and administrator, supporting student participation and studio operations.
Mena holds an M.A. in African Studies and a B.A. in International Relations from Stanford University. An avid learner, she is always eager to explore new opportunities and make a difference. In her free time, she enjoys practicing Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian martial art, reading, and learning about different cultures through travel.
